Digging holes

I am not quite sure what the fascination is with kids and digging big holes. However, it is definitely a highlight for all the kids to have Thomas and their uncles dig them a big, deep hole. The deeper and wider, the better. They will cram as many kids as they can inside. They build chairs into the side, slides and forts from there.

I think all of their earliest childhood memories started with a big hole. It was a great way to keep track of little toddlers instead of having them run into the ocean.

Regardless of how it started, they love it. Every morning, Thomas, and sometimes with help from Josh or Jake, a huge hole would be dug. It is home base for the kids as they run to and from the ocean, boogie boarding, finding sand crabs and building castles. When taking a break from all other activities, all of the kids find themselves playing in the hole.

I love how happy the simple things make them. Love these kids. Love having fun with them on the beach!
